Cut Brooklyn / Hand Crafted Kitchen Knives

All images © Valery Rizzo

This is the first of a three part series shot for Nona Brooklyn about makers of food-related products in Brooklyn.

Joel Bukiewicz owner of Cut Brooklyn, designs and crafts world class kitchen knives out of his workshop in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Using the finest materials available, Joel makes about five knives a week, with his goal always being to make the best knife he has ever made, each time. The knives he makes, over time, get better and better by tweaking things, which drives every knife towards perfection.

The shop is a two floor operation with all the cutting and grinding done downstairs in the workshop and the fine hand work done upstairs in the studio and showroom. Joel holds an open shop on Wednesdays and Saturdays where you can choose from several of his latest creations and you can even bring your existing kitchen knives into the shop for sharpening.

Home cooks and professional chefs throughout Brooklyn and beyond use Joel's knives, one of which is David Liatti good friend and owner of  61 Local in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, a public house celebrating locally crafted food.

Cut Brooklyn, 461 3rd Avenue, Brooklyn, 11215.
